Why Choose Latimer Enterprises?
Latimer Enterprises is named after Lewis Latimer.
Lewis Howard Latimer (1848–1928) was a skilled inventor, engineer, artist, and draftsman best known for his crucial contributions to electric lighting and telecommunications. He worked alongside renowned inventors like Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, and Hiram Maxim. His innovations include an improved carbon filament for light bulbs, which significantly extended their life and made them more affordable. Latimer holds eight patents and contributed to many more, including one for the carbon filament process and another for an early air conditioning system. He wrote one of the earliest books on electric lighting, entitled Incandescent Electric Lighting: A Practical Description of the Edison System. His work was instrumental in making electric lighting more practical and accessible to the public.
Latimer Enterprises is named after Mr. Latimer as a way of honoring his contributions to society.
